About The Position

Jones Petroleum is in the process of interviewing candidates for a position in our growing Payroll Department located in Jackson, Georgia office. This is a Full Time Exempt position with full company benefits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required or similar role specific accreditation.
  • Ability to work on premises in Jackson, GA
  • 5+ years of multi-corporation, multi-state payroll.
  • Must have strong in-depth knowledge of Payroll Technology, Payroll Processing, Tax principals, and FLSA / wage and hour laws.
  • Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision with the ability to manage and prioritize tasks and deadlines, team leadership skills, team player, attention to detail, customer service focused (internal and external), problem solver and ability to analyze information from various sources.
  • Must have excellent Excel skills, and proficient in all MSOffice programs; and overall comfortable working primarily in a computer-based environment and sitting for long periods of time.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Must be open to hours being longer during payroll processing days.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred candidate will have experience in areas of customer service, payroll, human resources, benefit administration or relevant work experience.
  • Preferred candidate will have experience with PAYLOCITY payroll systems.
  • Accomplishes organizations mission by completing identified tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the processing of payroll (using PAYLOCITY payroll software) for multiple corporate entities, including multi-state, multi-location, weekly payroll processing for both exempt and non-exempt employees; including manual / one off check processing; including federal, state, and local tax applications and processing;
  • Responsible for the review, reconciliation, and analysis of payroll inputs for all taxes, deductions, leave compensation, and benefit selections; including updating records for pay, exemptions, savings deductions, and inter-company transfers;
  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and year-end tax filings;
  • Responsible for responding to management and employee inquires as they relate to payroll processing;
  • Responsible for close support and collaboration of the company Benefit Administrator and Human Resource efforts.
  • Facilitate and complete the on-boarding process for new hires and/or re-hires including, but not limited to, properly executed Form I-9 / E-verification requirements; properly executing state “new hire” reporting requirements, and securing required documentation components as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Performs routine filing duties, including labeling, storing, cross-referencing, and retrieving files. Places documents in and removes documents from files on a timely basis. Maintains historical records by filing and scanning documents.
