About The Position

VCC is a leading commercial general contractor with a national footprint and approximately 300 employees across the country. We build complex, large-scale commercial projects and are proud of the team that makes it happen — from the field to the office. Our HR team is small and strategic — the work you do here is visible, meaningful, and felt across the organization from day one. We’re looking for an experienced HR & Payroll Specialist to join our lean HR team. This is a full-cycle role — you’ll own weekly and biweekly multi-state payroll processing and serve as the primary administrator for our employee benefits programs. You’ll be a key point of contact for employees across the country and a hands-on partner to the VP of Human Resources on compliance, open enrollment, and HR operations. If you thrive in a role where no two days look the same, you’re comfortable managing both detail-intensive payroll work and high-touch employee interactions, and you want to work somewhere that values what HR actually does — this is the role for you.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of payroll processing experience, including multi-state; benefits administration experience required
  • Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now (or similar HRIS); carrier portal experience preferred
  • Solid understanding of payroll regulations, wage/hour compliance, and benefits compliance (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA)
  • Construction, field workforce, or project-driven industry experience a plus
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or CPP certification a plus
  • High attention to detail, strong Excel skills, and the ability to manage competing deadlines without dropping the ball
  • A genuine service orientation — you take pride in getting it right for employees
