About The Position

The HR Operations Specialist supports the technical and compliance infrastructure of the Human Resources department. This role maintains HRIS data integrity, supports compliance documentation and leave administration, and assists with reporting and operational workflows. Working closely with the HR Operations Manager, the position helps ensure HR systems, data, and processes remain accurate, documented, and audit ready.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience in a Human Resources role
  • Strong technology skills, previous experience with HRIS, ATS, LMS, and payroll systems preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in an HR role, preferably with payroll experience and/or in a Union environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with HRIS systems.
  • Familiarity with Teams is a plus
  • Must be able to travel to sites in Massachusetts (approximately an hour drive max) at least once to twice a month to interact with staff and managers
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills

Nice To Haves

  • 3–5 years HRIS or HR operations experience
  • Experience with Dayforce preferred
  • Experience in union environment strongly preferred
  • Experience in nonprofit or healthcare setting a plus
  • Working knowledge of Massachusetts employment laws preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain HRIS data integrity in Dayforce, including processing employee status changes, testing system workflows, and supporting users with system navigation and troubleshooting
  • Support HR compliance and documentation processes, including conducting I-9 and employee file audits, tracking certifications and background checks, and assisting with external audit preparation
  • Serve as an initial contact for leave and benefits administration, coordinating leave documentation, tracking leave activity, supporting benefits enrollment, and assisting with PFML and payroll coordination
  • Prepare HR reports and workforce metrics, including tracking turnover, headcount, overtime trends, and maintaining HR dashboards
  • Maintain HR operational documentation, including procedure manuals, standard operating procedures, workflow documentation, and cross-training materials
  • Provide backup support for payroll processing as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
