About The Position

Verus is a boutique engineering and technical services firm specializing in industrial automation, controls, SCADA systems, business process engineering, and consulting for a wide array of industries. We have expertise in all aspects of systems integration, including electrical design, instrumentation, control panel design/build, programming, and commissioning. We are seeking a versatile HR Operations Specialist to report directly to our HR Manager and support the daily operations of our Human Resources team. In this hybrid role, you will be supporting everything from payroll administration, to onboarding and policy development, talent coordination, and HRIS maintenance. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, possesses strong problem-solving skills, and is comfortable driving both strategic initiatives and day-to-day operational tasks.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or equivalent hands-on experience.
3 years of hands-on experience processing payroll or as a payroll administrator.
3 years of experience as an HR Generalist.
2 years of experience supporting Talent Operations (e.g., recruiting coordination, NHO, and onboarding).
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with HRIS platforms, timekeeping software, and office productivity tools.
Experience with Paylocity plus.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Strong interpersonal development.
Self-motivated, energetic individual with a can-do attitude.
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Lead full-cycle payroll processing with high accuracy and compliance, ensuring timekeeping data, deductions, tax withholdings, and pay adjustments are seamlessly integrated and executed.
Oversee day-to-day benefits operations, including open enrollment, provider reporting, employee claims resolution, and benefit program communications (health, dental, 401k/retirement, etc.).
Partner with leadership to manage performance review workflows and accurately process all approved merit increases, bonuses, and compensation adjustments through the payroll system.
Support talent leadership with scheduling, manage candidate logistics, interviews, and onboarding.
Draft and issue official internal documentation, including offer letters and candidate packages.
Coordinate and execute the full onboarding process—managing documentation, orientation schedules, and trainings on company policies to ensure an exceptional candidate-to-employee experience.
Partner with HR leadership to create, document, and roll out updated HR policies, frameworks, and standardized document templates.
Monitor and evaluate HR laws against current internal procedures to ensure ongoing legal compliance.
Maintain accurate employee data and records within the HRIS.
Serve as a reliable point of contact for employee administrative inquiries, grievance resolution, and general operational support.
Develop, budget, and execute culture-building and employee engagement initiatives.
Assist leadership with addressing employee grievances and executing disciplinary actions in alignment with company policies and legal standards.
