About The Position

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented HR Manager to join our team while our current Manager goes on maternity leave for ~ 12 months. This role is ideal for an HR professional ready to take the next step in their career. You’ll work closely with leadership and employees across Canada & US to support core HR & Payroll functions including employee relations, compliance, performance management, recruitment, policy development, HR operations and fully managing semi-monthly payroll & processes. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as an HR Generalist with experience working in a stand alone role including experience with processing full cycle payroll, ideally within a small to mid-sized company
  • Familiarity with HRIS & Payroll systems (e.g., Rippling, CollageHR, BambooHR, ADP, or similar)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of employment laws across all Canadian provinces and HR best practices
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Process full cycle payroll for employees based in Canada & US including ROEs, T4s.
  • Ensuring our semi-monthly payroll is processed accurately and on time.
  • Manage all our benefit programs including health, dental, retirement plans, HSA/LSA, professional development, leave management, etc.
  • Act as a point of contact for both benefits providers and employees
  • Act as a point of contact for employee questions and concerns, escalating issues when appropriate
  • Effectively plan, design, develop and evaluate key employee engagement initiatives and internal communications that support organizational strategic goals
  • Guide and assist in conflict resolution and help promote a positive and inclusive work environment
  • Independently manage and guide leaders on change management initiatives and reduction in force process.
  • Lead performance review cycles and maintain documentation
  • Assist with learning & development initiatives and training logistics
  • Contribute to the development of career pathing and internal mobility programs
  • Monitor HR metrics and provide insights to leadership to support decision-making
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data
  • Implementation and ongoing management of company policies and procedures
  • Maintain and regularly update employee handbook
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and employment laws and regulations
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, screenings, interviews, and offers
  • Manage onboarding processes to ensure a smooth and welcoming new hire experience
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and optimize recruitment strategies
  • Manage documentation and engagement of independent contractors.
