About The Position

Bayshore HealthCare is a leading provider of home and community health care services in Canada, recognized for its commitment to quality and innovation. The Human Resources Manager reports to the Area Director and supports HR functions within a branch setting, collaborating with the National Service Centre HR Business Partner. This is an 18-month contract position based in Barrie, Ontario, requiring in-office presence.

Requirements

  • Minimum: Completion of a recognized Human Resources Diploma or Degree program.
  • 3-5 years of progressive human resources experience and responsibility with emphasis in full cycle recruitment, performance management, and WSIB claims management.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to handle difficult situations objectively and consistently, with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, meeting set deadlines.
  • Intermediate level computer skills using MS Office applications, HRIS and ATS.
  • Ability to operate all standard office equipment.
  • Valid driver license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
  • Commitment to continued learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Working towards CHRP designation will be considered an asset.
  • French fluency is a requirement for all Quebec locations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with employee discipline and counseling.
  • Maintain knowledge of provincial legislation (Employment Standards, Human Rights, Workplace Health and Safety, Labour laws) and assist in handling violations.
  • Handle inquiries related to hiring and selection of Field employees, adhering to national recruitment policies.
  • Hire and screen Field employees, including arranging interviews, administering skills tests, conducting reference checks, arranging police clearances, initiating onboarding, and organizing information sessions.
  • Recruit and select Administrative and/or Supervisory employees as requested by the Area Director.
  • Deliver HR-related orientation, including H&S and payroll processes, and prepare photo identification cards.
  • Maintain electronic employee HR files with all required documentation (registration, education, clearances, references, performance reviews, coaching notes, disciplinary records, supervisory reports, training documentation, exit interviews).
  • Coordinate employee engagement activities for branch and field employees.
  • Manage the employee benefits program, including probation, arrears, LOA reports, and change forms.
  • Lead the branch health and safety committee.
  • Maintain branch-specific forms and policies.
  • Collaborate with the Client Service Manager to ensure FT/PT and casual employees meet required hours.
  • Provide employees with Employment Letters.
  • Handle payroll and benefits-related inquiries and assist employees with forms.
  • Manage external requests for reference checks and employment verification, referring difficult situations to the Area Director.
  • Manage Workers Compensation claims documentation, including filing reports, follow-up activities, and participating in modified work program development.
  • Develop and participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities.
  • Support the Area Director with Office Operations.
  • Supervise branch Human Resources employees and other Administrative Personnel.
  • Complete other tasks as required.
