Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3+ years of Employee Relations or Labor Relations experience in a unionized environment.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws including FMLA, FLSA, NLRA, ADA, and EEO regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including managing employee rosters, seniority lists, workforce data, and creating reports and analyses.

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
  • Hospitality, food service, retail, or multi-unit experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct employee relations and workplace investigations, partnering with Legal, Labor Relations, Security, and Risk Management on complex matters.
  • Manage the grievance process, including investigation, documentation, response preparation, settlement recommendations, and representation in grievance meetings, labor-management meetings, and arbitration proceedings.
  • Monitor employee relations and grievance trends, identify recurring issues, and recommend proactive solutions to improve workplace relations.
  • Coach managers on performance management, trainings and corrective actions.
  • Interpret and administer collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), providing guidance to leaders on contract language, labor relations practices, and employee matters.
  • Provide Managers guidance on employment policies, procedures, employee relations matters, and the consistent application of company policies.
  • Develop and facilitate manager training on employment law, employee relations best practices, and workplace policies.
  • Manage and maintain CBA seniority lists, department rosters, and other labor-related records and documentation in accordance with applicable CBA requirements.
  • Partner with Operations Managers to proactively address workforce concerns and support positive labor-management relations, and designated guidelines.
  • Participate in campus-wide employee engagement initiatives and programs that promote employee connection, recognition, inclusion, and morale while supporting a positive and collaborative workplace culture.
  • Support organizational change management initiatives and employee communications.
  • Conduct new hire and rehire orientation and educate employees on company policies, procedures, workplace expectations, and available resources.
  • Manage unemployment claims and respond to agency requests, ensuring accurate and timely submission of supporting documentation.
