About The Position

This role serves as a strategic business partner, focusing on shaping business strategy and organizational effectiveness through talent, leadership, culture, and organizational capabilities. The HR Leader drives people and organization outcomes across the R&D organization and collaborates with the broader HR model to deliver integrated talent and organizational strategies. The role involves working closely with platform, functional, and technical operations R&D leaders and their teams to ensure the organization is positioned for sustainable growth, exceptional employee experience, and strong business performance in a highly regulated and competitive healthcare environment. Key activities include leadership coaching, succession planning, organizational design, workforce planning, change management, and culture stewardship. The HR Leader works closely with peers in the broader HR Team and reports to the Head of HR R&D. This position is part of the planned separation of Johnson & Johnson's Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone company, DePuy Synthes, which is expected to be completed within 18 to 24 months. If hired, it is anticipated that the employee would become an employee of DePuy Synthes following the transaction's conclusion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 6+ years of professional experience with significant HR Business Partnering experience.
  • Experience supporting senior leaders.
  • Strong track record in talent management, succession planning, leadership coaching, organizational design, and change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive business outcomes through people strategies.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking.
  • Coaching and influencing capabilities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate complexity and lead through change.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, Organizational Development, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the different R&D Leadership Teams that support.
  • Translate business priorities into people and organization strategies.
  • Use business, talent, and organizational insights to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Partner with leaders on workforce planning, capability building, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Support annual business planning and long-range strategic planning through a talent and organization lens.
  • Lead the talent agenda across the different assigned R&D groups.
  • Facilitate talent reviews, succession planning, and leadership development discussions.
  • Drive actions to strengthen diverse talent pipelines and critical capabilities.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to attract and retain high-caliber talent.
  • Support career development, mobility, and succession plans for critical leadership roles.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to the R&D leaders and their leadership teams.
  • Support leaders in strengthening leadership effectiveness and building high-performing teams.
  • Facilitate leadership team discussions and interventions that improve collaboration, accountability, and execution.
  • Coach managers through complex employee situations, organizational changes, and performance discussions.
  • Shape and steward a high engagement and performance culture aligned with our DS mindset.
  • Drive employee engagement strategies informed by employee sentiment and organizational health insights.
  • Partner with business leaders to strengthen inclusion, wellbeing, collaboration, and performance culture.
  • Lead organizational design and restructuring initiatives where needed.
  • Partner with leaders to implement transformation and change programs.
  • Diagnose organizational challenges and recommend solutions that enhance effectiveness and adaptability.
  • Support integration, business model evolution, and capability-building initiatives.
  • Partner with Employee Relations and Legal teams on employee matters.
  • Guide leaders on policy interpretation and people-related risk management.
