About The Position

Trucco, a recent addition to Gruppo Orsero, a leader in the distribution of high-quality fresh fruit and vegetables in Mediterranean Europe, is seeking an HR Lead for its Bronx, New York headquarters. This role will be instrumental in establishing Trucco's HR foundations from the ground up, covering both the Bronx office and the New Jersey warehouse. Reporting directly to Trucco's CEO, this position offers a clear growth path to a Director of Human Resources role, with the opportunity to build and lead a team as the HR function expands. The ideal candidate is hands-on, strategic, ambitious, and driven to build people programs and shape company culture from scratch.

Requirements

• A few years of experience in an HR generalist, coordinator, or similar role, ideally in a small or growing company.
• Working familiarity with U.S. HR practices, including recruitment, onboarding, and basic payroll/benefits concepts.
• Genuine ambition and potential to grow into a people leadership role over time.
• Highly organized and comfortable managing several priorities at once across two work sites.
• Strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment in handling sensitive employee matters.
• Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy in a growing, still-developing organization.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with New York and/or New Jersey employment practices is a plus, though not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle recruitment for open roles: job postings, applicant screening, interviews, and offer coordination.
• Own onboarding and offboarding for both the Bronx office and the New Jersey warehouse.
• Maintain employee records, HR systems, and day-to-day HR reporting.
• Serve as the first point of contact for employees on HR questions, policies, and benefits.
• Support payroll, timecard, PTO, and leave administration, coordinating with external providers as needed.
• Begin shaping early-stage HR policies, employee relations practices, and performance review processes.
• Act as a direct HR partner to Nick and the Trucco leadership team as the function takes shape.
• Build a bridge between Trucco's HR practices and Gruppo Orsero's people and culture initiatives across Europe.
