About The Position

Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU) has an exciting opportunity for a rising junior or senior to work as a Human Resources Intern within the HR department. This position will have a strong focus on supporting the HR team’s efforts with recruiting, selecting and onboarding of individuals as well as assisting with special projects. This internship will be during the fall semester (September - December 2026) and the schedule and number of hours will be determined based on the selected individual's class schedule.

Requirements

  • Must be actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field of study.
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 or above preferred.
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly such as Workday.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential, and proprietary information.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the recruiting process in collaboration with the HR Generalist team by: Posting and removing job advertisements on job boards, searching for and identifying qualified candidates, screening candidate applications and resumes, and organizing and conducting interviews in-person, by phone and or by video with selected candidates.
  • Assists with coordinating and attending recruiting events such as job fairs at select LMCU locations.
  • Assists in preparing and sending offer and rejection letters or emails to candidates.
  • Assist in onboarding new hires, new hire paperwork maintenance, and inputting new hires into Workday.
  • Assists with HR-related reports and projects.
