About The Position

At CF&I Steel, L.P., our strength starts with our people! We are seeking a Human Resources Intern to join our Pueblo, Colorado team for the Summer of 2026. This individual will learn how to operate in a real mill setting through supporting daily HR operations, focusing on employee experience, workforce administration, site-level HR initiatives, and interfacing with employees and operation leaders. The student will have hands-on exposure to HR in a fast-paced, unionized manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial/ Organizational Psychology or related field
  • Sophomore year completed
  • Ability to handle confidential information and communicate with professionalism
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Results-Driven attitude focused on accuracy, execution & continuous improvement
  • Ability to work independently with little direct supervision
  • Ability to work in an operational mill, with exposure to environmental and outside conditions, with hazards present, while following safety procedures
  • Must hold a valid Colorado Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate positive and proactive front-line employee customer service, resolving questions and concerns to provide employees with requested information on policy, benefits, leaves, timekeeping, and general HR process
  • Maintain employee files, update HRIS data, prepare reports and support audits
  • Assist with planning and executing site events that strengthen culture and retention
  • Participate in HR process improvement projects, helping streamline workflows and enhance employee experience, such as analyzing and trending HR data in partnership with HR staff to develop data-driven solutions such as dashboards and other impactful programs.
  • Develop working knowledge of HR legal requirements related to day-to-day operations, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Performs other duties as they might be assigned
