About The Position

The HR Generalist provides comprehensive human resources support across Canada, with a focus on Quebec and Ontario. Acting as a trusted partner to managers and employees, this role covers key HR functions within the employee life cycle, including Employee Relations, Performance Management, Workforce Planning, Employee Development, Policy Management, Training, and Compliance. The successful candidate is proactive, approachable, and capable of supporting employees at all levels while ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance with Canadian employment laws.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience BA in Human Resources, Labor Relations or related field or equivalent education, training and on the job work experience.
  • CPHR certification desired; equivalent certifications considered.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in an HR Generalist role.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment laws, Quebec employment legislation, and HR best practices.
  • Bilingual (English/French) required.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven experience leading employee relations, performance investigations and constructive disciplinary processes.
  • Background in employment law, with experience supporting a corporate HR function, is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within a team, to support the overall strategy and departmental goals.
  • Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to use sound judgement independently as needed.
  • Outgoing, empathetic, perceptive and understanding individual who thrives in a support role.
  • The ability to multi-task, managing multiple projects/tasks at once while maintaining a positive outward demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Provide counsel to managers. Ensure common understanding of the Mastercam Performance Management process.
  • Coach, counsel and guide managers on the overall performance management process, ensuring adherence to, and timely execution of, Mastercam performance processes and standards.
  • Counsel employees. Provide support, guidance, advice, and insight as needed. Respond to employee relations issues, employee complaints, harassment allegations and civil rights matters, ensure confidentiality, propriety, and discretion.
  • Lead the performance review cycle, overseeing the creation/sharing of support documentation, and proper employee communication. Provide coaching, with a focus on positive employee relations and continuous improvement.
  • Investigate violations of policy. Educate managers on policy or compliance violations, ensure performance standard enforcement across all areas of the company. Develop, review, and work with managers to ensure compliance with employee performance plans and/or disciplinary actions, from inception to separation.
  • Conduct exit interview sessions, analyze data, make recommendations for corrective action and improvement.Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
  • Partner with Managers to support Employee Engagement; foster an open and pro-active development of engagement initiatives; work to support Mastercam performance standards, providing insight and advice to employees and managers.
  • Act as first-line support for managers regarding employee behavior and performance concerns.
  • Provide guidance and facilitate conflict resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian employment standards and company policies.
  • Work with the HR leaders to ensure proactive support for the overall Engagement process.
  • Research, develop and recommend training for employees on matters of compliance and/or continuing education.
  • Work with the Management team. Proactively provide support and coaching to managers, focusing on best practices and opportunities to positively impact employees.
  • Work in coordination with HR team to facilitate Management and Employee training curriculum, ensuring alignment and timely delivery of agreed upon training.
  • Work to coordinate, schedule, set-up, and support training initiatives, assist in developing training programs and coordinate delivery, or utilize outside vendors as needed.
  • Support career development and succession planning, facilitate and monitor the performance review process, providing coaching and feedback guidance to manager and employees.
  • Communicate policies, procedures, standards and/or compliance regulations to employees as needed and as appropriate. Educate managers on their role, especially around compliance items and/or policy changes. Be pro-active and research trends and the potential impact to Mastercam.
  • Recommend new policies, policy revisions or alternative policy interpretation as needed or as required based on external factors.
  • Review benefits with employees and process enrollment, cancellation or change requests as needed. Lead the online Annual Open Enrollment communication and election process.
  • Perform benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approval of invoices and overall communication of benefits information to employees.
  • Perform HRIS data-entry and/or review of benefits information in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring accuracy.
  • Inform, support, and reinforce company policy standards as needed. Review and ensure compliance of said policies with local, provincial or and/or global laws or regulations. Research and recommend policy updates, changes, and/or revision based on current standards, expectations, or cultural requirements.
  • Educate managers on policy, support and develop the manager’s view and ability to educate employees on matters of policy. Ensure consistent performance standard enforcement across all areas of the company.
  • Maintain compliance with provincial employment laws and company policies.
  • Recommend policy updates based on regulatory changes.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and documentation, including follow-up in the day-to-day administration of files.
  • Interpret and apply federal and provincial employment standards including leaves, accommodations, and termination requirements.
  • Perform additional Company and HR tasks as needed, including coordination of events, filing, scanning, answering the telephone, answering employee requests and questions or other duties/tasks as assigned based on business needs.
