About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist – Talent Acquisition supports university departments by providing human resources services with a primary focus on talent acquisition and employment processes. The position coordinates recruitment activities, assists hiring managers with established recruitment practices, and helps ensure compliance with university policies and applicable employment requirements. The HR Generalist also provides routine support in areas such as onboarding, employee relations, performance management, position management, and other HR programs. The position works collaboratively with HR colleagues and departmental representatives, referring complex, sensitive, or unusual matters to senior HR staff or the appropriate HR specialist.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and processes.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of recruitment, employment, onboarding, and compensation practices.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate established HR policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ability to provide professional and responsive service to employees, supervisors, applicants, and other university stakeholders.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to gather relevant information and assist with resolving routine HR matters.
  • Ability to recognize complex, sensitive, or high-risk matters and refer them to senior HR staff when appropriate.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling employee and applicant information.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive employee and organizational information.
  • Ability to organize work, manage multiple priorities, and meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to review information for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established requirements.
  • Ability to assist with preparing and presenting HR-related training and informational materials.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain professionalism in challenging situations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and effectively use human resources information systems and other workplace technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field and two (2) years related human resources or benefits administration experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Relevant training or professional certifications may substitute for some education or experience requirements.
