About The Position

Join the L&S Administrative Regional Team as an HR Generalist and become an integral part of our team. In this role, you will be responsible for directly serving the needs of one or more departments in the college with day-to-day HR and payroll tasks. Areas of responsibility may include recruitment and onboarding coordination, processing hire and job change transactions, immigration and work authorization tasks, and managing payroll (e.g. leave reporting, time approval, etc.) and benefit activities. Reporting to the HR Manager, you will also contribute to the ongoing development of L&S HR services to ensure we are effectively meeting the needs of employees and units. This will include both individual and group process improvement work, including research, analysis, and implementation in a high-volume and fast-paced work environment. We are looking for candidates who will bring a positive, collaborative, and proactive problem-solving approach to working with faculty, staff, students, and colleagues. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter who demonstrates resourcefulness and works independently while exercising sound judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting policies and procedures. Requirements

  • Minimum 2-year relevant professional experience in Human Resources, payroll, or related role
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word or similar applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to independently plan, establish priorities, and accurately enter and manage information in web-based applications in a deadline-driven work environment

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to navigate and utilize a Human Resource Information Systems (e.g. Workday, Peoplesoft, etc.)
  • Human resources and/or payroll experience in a higher education or similar setting
  • Experience with applying complex policies and procedures related to complex processes
  • Experience with improving processes, navigating change, and/or applying systems thinking to work

Responsibilities

  • Executes and audits work transactions and changes adhering to established policies and procedures to meet anticipated deadlines
  • Receives, responds to, and resolves employee questions and problems
  • Represents unit/program at institutional workshops, informational meetings, and training sessions
  • Contributes to the development, implementation, interpretation, and revision of work unit Human Resources policies and procedures according to institutional and legal rules and regulations
  • Provides consultation, performs analytics, and/or maintains personnel files, communications, and materials for work unit through various mediums
