About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist supports the full employee lifecycle for a distributed, multi-state workforce and helps ensure HR operations remain accurate, responsive, and compliant with applicable federal, state, local, and contract requirements. This role is responsible for day-to-day HR administration across recruiting support, onboarding and offboarding, HRIS and records management, benefits and leave administration, payroll-impacting actions, compliance tracking, training coordination, and employee relations documentation. The HR Generalist partners with employees, managers, Accounting, Operations, IT, and HR leadership to deliver practical, confidential, and audit-ready HR support. This role offers broad HR ownership, meaningful variety, and hands-on exposure to multi-state HR operations, federal contracting support, and employee lifecycle processes. The HR Generalist will work closely with employees, managers, and cross-functional partners to support practical, compliant, and employee-focused HR operations in a lean, mission-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of core HR operations across recruiting, onboarding, records administration, benefits, leave, payroll support, compliance, and employee relations documentation.
  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now or comparable HRIS platforms, Microsoft Office, and document management systems such as SharePoint.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through, with strong judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accurate, audit-ready records and escalating compliance concerns appropriately.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent HR experience may be considered.
  • Three or more years of HR Generalist or comparable HR operations experience required; broader independent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience with ADP Workforce Now or a comparable HRIS; ADP experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting multi-state compliance, and preferably federal contracting, Service Contract Act administration, wage determinations, and HR-to-Accounting coordination.

  • HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support recruiting activities, including requisition setup, job postings, candidate communication, interview coordination, and pre-employment documentation.
  • Administer onboarding from signed offer through start-date readiness, including ADP onboarding workflows, I-9 completion, and coordination with cross-functional teams for payroll, systems access, and equipment setup.
  • Manage offboarding activities, employee status changes, and payroll-impacting actions, including final pay coordination, PTO payouts, deductions, and related documentation.
  • Maintain ADP Workforce Now and related HR systems, including employee data entry, records management, document maintenance, and recurring or ad hoc HR reporting.
  • Support benefits, 401(k), and leave administration, including enrollments, qualifying events, employee questions, vendor coordination, and eligibility tracking.
  • Assist with compliance across a multi-state workforce, including ACA, FMLA, FLSA, EEO, ADA, HIPAA, paid leave, workers’ compensation, and contract-specific requirements such as Service Contract Act support and wage determination tracking.
  • Provide support for employee relations matters, including documentation related to performance concerns, corrective actions, accommodations, and terminations, with appropriate escalation to HR leadership.
  • Coordinate HR communications, process documentation, training assignments, and other HR projects that improve employee experience and operational consistency.
