The HR Generalist will be responsible for a variety of HR functions including recruiting, onboarding, HR systems administration, talent management, benefits administration, and general HR administration. This role supports multiple locations and requires strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as dedicated recruiter for hiring managers for all 6 State Steel locations.
  • Provides recruiting support for company locations in back-up of local facility/business HR Office Administrators as needed.
  • Posts all open positions on company-branded social media platforms and ensures social media postings are updated and refreshed frequently.
  • Initiates all pre-hire background checks and drug screens and assists facility-based HR Office Administrators with any background check and drug screen troubleshooting.
  • Works with hiring managers to initiate all new hire onboarding activities/tasks in UKG Pro.
  • Conducts HR systems orientation.
  • Tracks and reports on the completion of new hire onboarding activities/tasks at all facilities, including 90-day reviews, onboarding surveys, onboarding videos, etc.
  • Provides administrative ownership, training, and support of the UKG Pro Recruiting Platform, associated third-party sites and internal sites; works directly with UKG Pro to troubleshoot Recruiting platform problems.
  • Create and maintain reference and training materials related to recruiting and onboarding systems and best practices as requested.
  • Works with company managers to ensure all job description updates are documented and uploaded to SharePoint.
  • Collaborates with the HR Administrators to ensure updated competencies are appropriately mapped to the respective job titles.
  • Conducts benefits orientation with all new hires either virtually or in-person.
  • Creates and distributes monthly benefits fliers and communication materials.
  • Assists the HR Systems Administrator in coordinating and executing annual benefits open enrollment.
  • Works with HR Administrators and processes all monthly new hire benefits enrollments.
  • Provides customer support to employees and managers re: benefits questions and issues; engages carriers as needed.
  • Coordinates annual flu shots for employees.
  • Troubleshoots employee verification issues with outsourced provider.
  • Accurately processes drug screening and pre-employment physical invoices.
  • Scans and files all HR related documents into UKG Pro; ensures all scanning and file management is kept up to date.
  • Provides additional support for other HR projects, programs, and initiatives as needed.
  • Serves as backup for timecard maintenance and payroll administration for all legal entities.
  • Assists HR Systems Administrators with year-end HR processes.
