About The Position

Bring your energy, organization, and people-first mindset to a fast-moving HR role that helps Billion Auto attract, support, and retain top talent. This position serves as the on-site HR partner for the Iowa City campus, supporting managers and employees across 8 dealerships and more than 350 employees. The role blends high-volume recruiting with hands-on HR generalist responsibilities, including onboarding, benefits support, worker's compensation coordination, employee relations, leave administration, unemployment and compliance support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent HR experience may be considered.
  • 2-4 years of HR generalist experience, preferably in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
  • At least 1 year of high-volume staffing or recruiting experience.
  • Strong communication skills, professional judgment, and the ability to build trust with managers and employees.
  • Excellent organization, follow-through, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems, benefits administration platforms, HRIS/payroll systems, and vendor websites.
  • Working knowledge of safety programs, OSHA concepts, FMLA, leave administration, and worker's compensation management.
  • Ability to use facts, good judgment, and critical thinking to solve practical HR issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion.
  • Represent HR with professionalism, urgency, consistency, and a service-oriented approach.
  • Communicate clearly, document thoroughly, and follow Company procedures and applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Own full-cycle recruiting for exempt and nonexempt roles across 8 dealership locations in Iowa
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, prioritize openings, and keep recruiting activity moving forward.
  • Build creative recruiting pipelines through job fairs, technical schools, four-year schools, and local community partnerships.
  • Coordinate applicant communication, interview scheduling, reference checks, background checks, and new-hire approvals in accordance with Company policy and applicable requirements.
  • Coordinate new-hire onboarding and ensure employees receive timely communication, system set-up, and a positive first impression.
  • Train new hires on the timeclock process and partner with Payroll to help ensure accurate, timely information flow.
  • Support benefits administration, including enrollments, status changes, employee questions, health screenings, flu shot clinics, for Iowa locations and all Company.
  • Serve as a visible, approachable HR resource for employees and managers while partnering closely with the HR team.
  • Act as the on-site HR partner for managers across 8 locations, escalating and collaborating with the HR Director and General Manager when appropriate.
  • Assist with employee relations counseling, documentation, investigations, and follow-up in a fair, consistent, and professional manner.
  • Coordinate worker's compensation paperwork with managers and employees, including claim updates, employee care updates, and corrective safety follow-up.
  • Assist with FMLA, USERRA, personal leaves of absence, and related documentation and communication.
  • Help maintain compliance with applicable federal and state employment requirements, Company policies, and HR best practices.
  • Complete other HR-related duties and special projects as assigned.
