About The Position

MDS Communications is seeking a skilled and dedicated Human Resources Generalist & Recruiter to join our team at our Mesa, AZ location. This full-time, onsite position supports both local and remote employees and plays a key role in ensuring smooth and compliant HR operations. This position has a duel reporting relationship to both the offsite Director of Human Resources and onsite VP of Operations. The HR Generalist & Recruiter is responsible for a wide range of day-to-day HR functions including benefits administration, professional development, leave management, employee relations, and oversite of the Recruiting Team. While not a primary focus, this role may also support recruitment and onboarding processes in collaboration with our full-time recruiting team. Requirements

  • 1–2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources and Recruitment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of employment law, benefits administration, HR procedures, and best recruitment strategies
  • High level of discretion, integrity, and confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, stay organized, and handle sensitive situations with professionalism
  • Calm and composed demeanor with effective conflict resolution skills
  • Work in our Mesa, AZ office

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR certification
  • Experience with Paycom HRIS

Responsibilities

  • Administer employee benefits and leave of absence programs
  • Serve as a primary contact for employee relations, engagement, and performance support
  • Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes as needed in coordination with dedicated recruiters
  • Represent the company in unemployment hearings and related matters
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, internal policies, and HR best practices
  • Maintain accurate HR records, reports, and documentation
  • Provide guidance to employees and managers on HR matters and policies
  • Foster a respectful and professional workplace environment—onsite and remotely
  • Own the recruitment strategy to ensure timely, high-quality talent acquisition that meets organizational workforce needs.
  • Manage and improve consistent hiring processes, interview standards, and selection criteria
  • Manage team of recruiters
  • Oversee and optimize the applicant tracking system (ATS), ensuring data accuracy, compliance, and reporting efficiency.
  • Track and report recruiting metrics (time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, offer acceptance rate, source effectiveness, etc.) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Design and maintain a positive candidate experience from initial contact through onboarding.
