About The Position

Barr, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented part-time HR Generalist to manage and support day-to-day human resources functions, including recruitment, payroll, benefits, employee relations, performance management, training, and compliance. This role will support employees and managers, maintain HR systems and processes, and help foster a positive, safe, and productive workplace.

Requirements

3-5 years of progressive HR generalist experience, including hands-on payroll and benefits administration.
Working knowledge of federal and Wisconsin employment laws and benefits regulations (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, ACA).
Experience with an HRIS and payroll system (BambooHR a plus).
Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and absolute discretion with confidential information.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle recruiting: job postings, screening, interviews, offers, and onboarding.
Develop and update job descriptions in collaboration with department managers.
Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time, including timekeeping review, overtime, PTO, garnishments, and new-hire and termination changes.
Administer health, dental, vision, supplemental, life, HSA, EAP, and 401(k) programs, including enrollments, qualifying life events, carrier and broker coordination, and invoice reconciliation.
Lead annual open enrollment and process benefit terminations and COBRA notices.
Administer short-term disability, and other leaves, and manage ADA accommodation requests.
Support COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, and ERISA compliance, including notices, reporting, and plan documentation.
Serve as a resource for employee concerns, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations.
Coordinate performance reviews, goal setting, and coach managers on documentation and discipline.
Manage voluntary and involuntary separations, including final pay, return of property, and system access.
Respond to unemployment claims and manage related hearings.
Maintain DOT/FMCSA compliance: driver qualification files, medical certificates, CDL and MVR monitoring, and Clearinghouse queries.
Manage the DOT drug and alcohol testing program (pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion) and the third-party administrator.
Coordinate workers' compensation claims, OSHA 300/300A/301 logs, safety training, forklift and driver certifications, and audit readiness.
Develop and communicate HR policies in compliance with federal and Wisconsin employment laws.
Maintain accurate, confidential employee records and administer BambooHR.
Track HR metrics, recommend process improvements, and perform other duties as assigned.
May involve projects from other business divisions with duties as assigned.
