About The Position

The HR Generalist II will be responsible for facilitating daily policies and programs that cover several or all of the following areas: Employee Relations, benefits, training, policy implementation, and employee change requests, while promoting Compass Minerals' vision, mission, and core values. Additionally, the Human Resource Representative will collaborate with the Human Resource Business Partners and the HR Leadership Team to support HR strategies, objectives, programs, projects, and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent education and experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in the field of Human Resources in a manufacturing/ or heavy industrial-related area.
  • Regular arrival time before 7:00 am to support the 24/7-hour workforce
  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including EEOC, OFCCP, I-9, and FMLA compliance regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.

Responsibilities

  • Produce, maintain, and update job descriptions-partner with recruiting team members
  • Manage leave of absence process, including (STD, LTD, FMLA, Etc.)
  • Manage workers' compensation and unemployment claims, respond appropriately as required
  • Assist with performance management, payroll inquiries; provide administrative support; ensure compliance with the company's values, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Manage the ongoing processes related to the employment life cycle
  • Develop, plan, and help administer new processes and HR department project initiatives by partnering with HRBP, including policy development and updates.
  • Participate in the monthly onboarding of new employees: focused on benefits and a respectful workplace.
  • Maintain HCM-process employees and system changes accurately, including transactions and terminations
  • Respond to employee questions and concerns regarding employee information, policies, procedures, and document retrieval while developing positive relationships with our customers.
  • Support the HRBP with training, i.e., compliance, benefits, wellness programs, etc., maintaining legal compliance.
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and requests for information.
  • Provide back-up support to HRBP and HR Coordinator where appropriate
  • Perform other related duties as required.
