About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our team. This role will play an integral part in supporting our Field Services business unit as a strategic HR representative, partnering closely with the HR Manager and site leadership to execute business-driven HR initiatives. As an HR Generalist, you will support employee relations, performance management, talent development, workforce planning, employee engagement, and HR compliance while helping build a high-performing organization capable of achieving business objectives. This role will sit onsite in Houston and will travel 30% to the job sites to meet with the employees. This position supports a large-scale construction job site and serves as the primary on-site HR resource for employees and leaders. The HR Generalist will assist with all aspects of human resources, including employee relations, performance management, manager coaching, employee lifecycle activities, HRIS transactions, workforce planning, onboarding, and organizational support. This role will help ensure project teams are supported from an HR perspective while maintaining compliance with employment laws, company policies, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field is required
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in HR supporting a construction or field-based employee population
  • In-depth knowledge of recruiting practices, talent management, performance management, and employee relations
  • Experience with HRIS systems such as SAP, Workday, Oracle, Paycom or UKG.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to addressing HR issues
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR partner for assigned construction project sites, providing day-to-day support to employees and site leadership on employee relations and investigations, performance management, workforce planning, and HR policy interpretation.
  • Coach managers through performance concerns, corrective actions, investigations, employee relations matters, and other complex people issues while ensuring consistency and compliance.
  • Manage employee lifecycle activities including onboarding, promotions, transfers, compensation changes, terminations, HRIS transactions, and employee documentation.
  • Build strong relationships with project leadership and field teams to drive employee engagement, retention, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness across the job site.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, company policies, and HR best practices while supporting training initiatives, leadership development, and strategic HR projects.
