About The Position

They are looking for an experienced, bilingual HR Generalist who is passionate about people, thrives in the field, and enjoys building trusted relationships across a diverse workforce. This role involves balancing employee relations, recruiting, compliance, and coaching leaders, with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact and support Verde's growth. The position is full-time, onsite, based in Cerritos, California, and supports multiple locations throughout California. The HR Generalist will partner directly with employees, supervisors, and leaders to foster an engaging workplace, ensure compliance, and support employees throughout their journey. Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, this role serves as a trusted business partner, providing hands-on support and cultivating the company culture.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of HR Generalist experience, preferably supporting multiple locations or field-based operations.
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (spoken and written).
  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment laws, including wage and hour regulations, FEHA, FMLA/CFRA, leaves of absence, and HR compliance.
  • Ability to travel throughout California to support multiple worksites (reliable transportation required).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working independently, managing multiple priorities, and taking initiative.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Experience supporting janitorial, facility services, construction, manufacturing, agriculture, hospitality, or other field-based industries.
  • Experience supporting hourly workforces and multi-site operations.

  • Coordinate and support workers' compensation claims and leave of absence administration.
  • Deliver HR guidance with fairness, consistency, and integrity.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and enhance the employee experience.
  • Support efficient HR operations through accurate documentation and organized recordkeeping.
  • Maintain compliance with California employment laws and company policies.
  • Help build sustainable people practices that support long-term organizational growth.
  • Build meaningful relationships with employees across all levels of the organization.
  • Serve as a bilingual resource for English- and Spanish-speaking employees.
  • Promote an inclusive workplace where every employee feels respected and supported.
  • Encourage participation in community and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Model Verde's Mission, Vision, and Core Values in every interaction.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers across multiple worksites.
  • Conduct regular site visits to support frontline teams and leaders.
  • Partner with hiring managers throughout the full recruitment process for hourly and salaried positions.
  • Coordinate engaging new hire orientations that set employees up for success from day one.
  • Support performance management, coaching conversations, disciplinary processes, and performance improvement plans.
  • Deliver HR training on harassment prevention, workplace policies, compliance, and other employee development topics.
  • Coach leaders on documentation, communication, and consistent application of company policies.
  • Help create an employee experience that reflects the Verde Vibes every day.
