About The Position

Oil Changers, a company of Valvoline, is America’s leading quick lube operator. We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist (HRG) to support a fast-paced, multi-state environment. This role serves as a strategic partner to field leadership, driving key initiatives across the employee lifecycle including onboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, and HRIS management. The HRG will play a critical role in guiding leaders through employee relations matters, conducting investigations, and ensuring consistent and compliant performance management practices. This includes reviewing and approving corrective action documentation, coaching managers on best practices, and interpreting employment laws and company policies. This is a fully remote position supporting a multi-state workforce. Candidates must be located in Austin, TX. Must be available to work Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. This role requires full availability during scheduled working hours; outside employment may not interfere with these hours.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in employee relations, including investigations and conflict resolution
  • Solid understanding of performance management practices and progressive discipline
  • Knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws and HR best practices
  • Ability to influence and coach leaders at various levels of the organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills with ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
  • Proficiency with Google Suite or related software
  • Experience with HRIS/payroll systems (Paycom preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
  • 2–5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a multi-state environment
  • Demonstrated experience in employee relations and performance management required

Responsibilities

  • Partner with field leadership to provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, and policy interpretation
  • Lead and support employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and documentation
  • Review and approve corrective actions and write-ups to ensure consistency, fairness, and legal compliance
  • Coach and develop managers on performance management processes and best practices
  • Manage employee onboarding processes to ensure compliance and positive employee experience
  • Complete Forms I-9, verify documentation, and maintain compliance with I-9 requirements
  • Serve as HR representative on regional calls and act as a trusted advisor to leadership
  • Act as primary point of contact for employee and manager inquiries within assigned territory
  • Conduct audits of onboarding, I-9 documentation, and other HR programs to ensure compliance
  • Maintain accurate personnel records, file management, and HRIS (Paycom) data integrity
  • Support benefits administration and respond to employee benefit-related inquiries
  • Participate in HR projects, initiatives, and process improvements
  • Assist with mergers and acquisitions, including onboarding and integration support
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
