About The Position

The Hi-Lo Hotel, Autograph Collection by Marriott, located in the heart of downtown Portland, is seeking an enthusiastic and service-focused Human Resources Coordinator (Part-Time) to support our team members throughout their employment journey. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, and creating exceptional workplace experiences. The Human Resources Coordinator serves as a key resource for team members and leaders by supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, performance programs, workers' compensation administration, HR reporting, and compliance initiatives. This role partners closely with hotel leadership and Home Office Human Resources to ensure a positive employee experience and the consistent application of company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MS Teams, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Human Resources, recruiting, hospitality, or administrative experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and HR processes.
  • Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Hospitality or Marriott experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support hiring managers throughout the full recruitment lifecycle.
  • Manage and monitor the applicant tracking system.
  • Review resumes and conduct initial candidate screenings.
  • Coordinate interviews and candidate communications.
  • Respond promptly to applicant inquiries.
  • Partner with Home Office Human Resources regarding job postings and recruiting initiatives.
  • Build relationships with local colleges, hospitality programs, community organizations, and workforce development partners.
  • Represent the hotel at job fairs, networking events, and hiring initiatives.
  • Process new hires, transfers, promotions, status changes, and separations.
  • Ensure completion and accuracy of all employment documentation.
  • Coordinate background checks, employment verification, and educational verification processes.
  • Facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation programs.
  • Ensure employees complete co-employer and company onboarding requirements.
  • Maintain personnel files and employment records in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Assist in fostering a positive, engaging, and service-focused workplace culture.
  • Serve as a resource for team members regarding employment-related questions and concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee and candidate information.
  • Collaborate with Home Office Human Resources and Human Resources Business Partners to address employee relations matters.
  • Provide timely and professional support to employees and managers.
  • Support hotel-level workers' compensation administration.
  • Complete required claim documentation and incident reporting.
  • Coordinate communication among injured employees, insurance carriers, Home Office Human Resources, and co-employer representatives.
  • Coordinate monthly safety initiatives and Safety Committee activities.
  • Attend Safety Committee meetings and maintain meeting documentation and records.
  • Assist with company-wide employee programs and initiatives.
  • Support annual performance review processes.
  • Assist with employee engagement surveys and follow-up initiatives.
  • Coordinate employee recognition programs and appreciation events.
  • Support training programs, service excellence initiatives, and team member development efforts.
  • Ensure company communications and HR-related materials are distributed effectively.
  • Prepare, maintain, and analyze HR reports and data.
  • Utilize HRIS and other systems to generate reports and support business needs.
  • Assist with research, surveys, and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, employment practices, and applicable regulations.
  • Support special projects and additional HR initiatives as assigned.
