About The Position

Maryland Public Television (MPT) is seeking an HR Coordinator & Compliance Specialist to provide essential administrative, transactional, and project coordination support to the Vice President of Human Resources and the broader HR team. This role acts as an administrative gatekeeper, ensuring daily data transactions, performance evaluation cycles, benefits logistics, and leave management activities strictly adhere to employment and labor laws and company policies. The position operates in a fast-paced environment, requiring a balance of administrative execution, technology savviness (especially with Workday), event coordination, project tracking, and discretion in handling confidential personnel information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, PLUS a minimum of 2 years of dedicated corporate human resources experience.
  • OR a minimum of 6 years of direct human resources administrative experience as a substitute for the four-year degree
  • Experience may be substituted on a year-by-year basis for up to four years of education from an accredited College or University in a related field
  • Operation of a motor vehicle is required; possession of a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate onboarding and orientation activities
  • Execute and audit personnel transactions in Workday
  • Assist with Workday timekeeping functions in accordance with compliance protocols
  • Guide staff through benefits enrollments, benefit changes and available resources
  • Assist with the leave management process to include providing education, monitoring and tracking the usage
  • Monitor and track online performance evaluation cycles and provide troubleshooting assistance to staff
  • Plan and execute HR sponsored events
  • Manage assigned projects and communicate event milestones, status updates
  • Troubleshoot HR processes and develop best practices
