About The Position

The global Human Resource (HR) Function provides an integrated talent management system that delivers a workforce that is Corning's competitive differentiator in the global marketplace. HR provides service offerings that align solutions to business challenges by ensuring the programs are Effective, Efficient, Global, Scaleable, and Repeatable. Corning’s Values are operationalized by the HR Function through the facilitation of Talent Management offerings, as well as programs and processes that aid in making Corning’s Values visible. The Plant HR Consultant partners with plant leadership and employees to deliver HR solutions that drive operational effectiveness, employee engagement, and compliance. Serving as a trusted advisor, this role supports workforce planning, talent acquisition and development, employee relations, and change initiatives aligned with plant and business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or plant environment.
  • Working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance requirements.
  • Experience using HRIS and producing reports/insights to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills; able to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Employee relations capability, including investigation fundamentals, conflict resolution, and sound judgment.
  • Organized self-starter who can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivots, lookups, basic data cleaning) and PowerPoint; comfortable working with HR datasets and metrics.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree and/or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR) preferred.
  • Continuous improvement experience (Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen).
  • Advanced Excel and/or HR analytics tools (e.g., Power BI); ability to create dashboards, identify trends, and translate findings into clear recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Plant HR Manager to ensure the plant has the talent, capability, and workforce plan needed to execute the plant strategy and achieve business results.
  • Serve as an HR contact for plant management and employees, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to help the plant attract and retain top talent.
  • Advise on employee relations issues; conduct investigations and recommend resolutions to foster a positive work environment.
  • Implement and monitor compliance with employment and labor laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Facilitate training and development programs to upskill plant employees and support career growth.
  • Partner with plant leadership on organizational change, workforce planning, and performance management.
  • Analyze plant HR metrics (e.g., turnover, engagement, absenteeism) to identify trends and root causes; create basic dashboards/recurring reports and recommend targeted actions to plant leadership.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives at the plant level.
  • Lead or support plant HR projects and initiatives as needed.
