About The Position

The HR Consultant provides comprehensive human resources support throughout the entire employee lifecycle, encompassing recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and performance management. This role involves preparing HR documentation, assisting with employee relations and disciplinary processes in collaboration with union partners, and offering guidance on relevant legislation, collective agreements, and employment contracts. The consultant is also responsible for delivering workforce data and payroll insights, supporting disability case management under the HR Manager, and may be involved in maintaining payroll accuracy and processing bi-weekly payroll. Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Human Resources Management (or related field with Human Resource Management certificate)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate respectfully and patiently with all Mount Carmel Clinic staff and inquiring applicants

  • Demonstrated ability to treat all HR related matters with the utmost respect, confidentiality, and discretion

  • Demonstrated understanding of oppression, harm-reduction, and culturally grounded healing
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ human resources experience in a unionized environment
  • Two (2) years of full range benefits management experience
  • Experience working in community health, preferably with the communities Mount Carmel Clinic serves
  • Experience providing human resources support with an intersectional approach
  • Proven knowledge and ability in relationship-building, critical thinking, facilitation, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and focus work-related activities to effectively and efficiently achieve service goals and produce expected results/outcomes
  • Commitment to the principles that guide Mount Carmel Clinic, as reflected in the history, vision, mission, and values
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions and the impact of colonization on the health and well-being of Indigenous individuals and families
  • Proven ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment with respect, professionalism, cooperation, sensitivity, and cultural awareness
  • Strong knowledge, commitment, and demonstrated ability to apply diversity, equity, cultural safety, pro-choice, social determinants of health, population health, harm reduction, trauma-informed, and community development principles in all aspects of the work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of computer systems
