About The Position

The HR Business Partner works proactively with designated department and college administrators, faculty and staff to provide guidance and advice on most HR-related issues. This position will assist in addressing a variety of HR services including, but not limited to, recruitment, onboarding, compensation, performance management, job analysis, benefits, employee relations, disciplinary process, employee leave, and Workday processes. This position will act as the initial point of contact for all HR matters for the designated departments and colleges. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3 years of human resources experience.
  • Knowledge of personnel, payroll, and budget processes, policies, and procedures;
  • Superior planning and organizational skills;
  • Knowledge of the principles and legal requirements in human resource management, recruitment, and hiring in higher education;
  • Knowledge of all university benefits plans;
  • Excellent communication skills to include the ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information, reports, and programs;
  • Excellent critical thinking and reasoning skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to maintain professionalism at all times;
  • Ability to address sensitive employee issues;
  • Ability to determine the most appropriate approach in employee relations matters;
  • Must maintain the confidentiality of company documents and information;
  • Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and demonstrate a “can-do” attitude;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities;
  • Willingness to convert to a schedule which will include early morning, evening, and possibly weekend work, if needed;

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree with 5 years of human resources experience;

Responsibilities

  • Advise designated departments and colleges on the administration of human resources policies and procedures;
  • Advise appropriate HR personnel of any recurring issues or problems within the designated departments and colleges;
  • Establish and build rapport with designated department and college administrators, faculty, and staff;
  • Provide advice and make recommendations for the resolution of daily issues for assigned departments and colleges;
  • Ensure business practices are in accordance with human resources policies and labor laws;
  • Act as an internal consultant by analyzing and recommending solutions to human resource issues within the assigned departments and colleges;
  • Ensure departments and colleges follow established policies and procedures and are in compliance with any relevant federal, state, or local legislation;
  • Prepare and maintain special internal and external reports as requested;
  • Assist with developing, coordinating, and recommending changes for the improvement of HR workflow and procedures in the assigned departments and colleges;
  • Develop procedures for compiling and analyzing data for reports and special projects;
  • Participate in professional development sessions or seminars;
  • Present training sessions related to the assigned departments and colleges;
  • Keep abreast of new trends and advancements in the human resources field;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
