The HR Benefits and Leave Specialist is responsible for overseeing employee benefits administration and managing leave requests and accommodations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field
  • Minimum two years of experience, in human resources preferred.
  • Computer skills sufficient to utilize HRIS systems and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to drive as required during daytime, nighttime or inclement weather.
  • Valid Driver's License with Safe Driving Record
  • State Minimum Automobile Insurance Coverage

Responsibilities

  • Administers health plans including enrollments and changes across the enterprise.
  • Ensures accurate record keeping and proper deductions are being taken from staff members’ pay.
  • Strives to ensure staff understanding of benefit programs by, regularly generating communication tools and counseling staff /dependents as situations arise.
  • Works with current staff on plan provisions, benefit enrollments, status changes and other general inquires as well as COBRA information for terminating staff.
  • Manages annual enrollment, communicates changes to staff and ensures the HRIS is updated for Annual Enrollment.
  • Monitors records of COBRA Administrator monthly to ensure compliance.
  • Performs quality checks on benefits-related data.
  • Works on the reconciliation of benefit billings in cooperation with the Finance Department.
  • Delivers comprehensive, timely, and detailed reporting as requested from the HRIS.
  • Assists with onboarding new affiliates and building new company codes in HRIS.
  • Assists in other activities and departments when requested.
  • Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities to support the quality of Ohio’s Hospice services.
  • Precepts new staff to support professional relationships with newly hired team members as required.
  • Provides information as needed to internal and external customers when inquiries are made regarding Ohio’s Hospice, policies, procedures, benefits, etc., using superior customer service practices.
  • Maintains electronic personnel files and ensures compliance with Joint Commission standards, Ohio Department of Health, CMS and more.
  • Ensures integrity of HRIS system by performing frequent audits of personnel records.
  • Maintains and verifies professional licensure information at time of hire and post-hire for all staff and contracted staff.
  • Facilitates the onboarding of new providers in obtaining/maintaining necessary documents, including but not limited to license, certifications, provider number, DEA number, OARRS applications, liability insurance applications, vaccine records and maintenance of such records needed to maintain credentialing.
  • Facilitates the timely completion and submission of applications/reapplication to all payers.
  • Manages administrative aspects of provider credentialing/recredentialing to facilities where we partner.
  • Administers the Tuition Assistance benefit including verifying, tracking and requesting payments for approved tuition assistance requests from qualified staff.
  • Verifies safe driving record for each applicable staff member.
  • Manages other HR projects and initiatives including staff recognition, support events and others as requested.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement activities to support the quality of Ohio’s Hospice services.
  • Precept new staff to support professional relationships with newly hired team members as required.
