About The Position

At Nexus Disposal, we are looking for a motivated and organized HR Assistant to join our growing team. This position plays an important role in supporting daily human resources functions, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and maintaining employee records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, professional, and experienced in both HR administration and transportation compliance.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in Human Resources, recruiting, transportation compliance, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of labor and employment laws
  • Experience with FMCSA and DOT compliance requirements preferred
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with employees at all levels
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related HR experience
  • Paycom HR/Payroll system experience
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of FMCSA regulations and DOT compliance procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional and team-oriented attitude

  • SHRM certification
  • Experience in transportation, waste, or logistics industries

Responsibilities

  • Screen, recruit, and interview potential candidates
  • Assist with onboarding and training new employees
  • Support and promote company culture, values, and policies
  • Prepare reports, employee documents, and HR records as requested by management
  • Coordinate employee engagement and recognition events
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee files
  • Assist with HR and payroll processes through Paycom
  • Maintain DOT driver qualification files and ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations
  • Monitor driver license statuses, medical cards, MVRs, and annual reviews
  • Assist with DOT drug and alcohol testing program administration
  • Track compliance deadlines and assist with audits and safety documentation
  • Ensure proper documentation for new driver onboarding and orientation
  • Support safety and compliance initiatives related to DOT and FMCSA requirements
