About The Position

Gladding McBean in Lincoln, CA is a manufacturer of vitrified clay pipe for sewers, clay roof tile, piazza clay floor tile, glazed terra cotta pottery, architectural terra cotta, sacked mortar clay, chimney tops and caps. We are a proud member of the Pacific Coast Building Products Family of Companies. This position supports Human Resources and Payroll under the supervision of the Accounting & Admin Manager. It is responsible for helping maintain employee records, managing HR documents, and event planning. The role also supports and demonstrates the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation, and Financial Success. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Basic math abilities: Add, subtract, multiply and divide
  • Ability to operate a computer, printer, 10 key adding machine, copier and any other equipment required to perform duties.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office systems – Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint a must.
  • Regular, predictable of consistent attendance is required.
  • Able to work overtime if needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in human resource roles is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of CA wage and hour regulations with regards to payroll highly desirable.
  • 2-5 years experience using payroll software, e.g., SAP, Novatime desirable.
  • Valid CA Driver’s license
  • Bilingual in Spanish highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills – Written and Oral.
  • Ability to multi-task with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Professional demeanor
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meets tight deadlines with little or no supervision and stays on task.
  • Must possess requisite skills to apply common sense and comprehend and explain company policies and documents.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of administrating duties and responsibilities.
  • Assists with payroll duties, such as collecting necessary forms.
  • Communicates and/or submits employee changes to the Shared Services department regarding benefits, W-4 changes, changes of address, etc.
  • Seeks guidance from the Human Resources Manager to ensure compliance on wage and hour, labor posters, etc.
  • Plans for and coordinates company social activities including company Thanksgiving and Christmas luncheons, birthday/anniversary celebrations, Adopt-A-Family events, picnics, etc.
  • Communicates with the Human Resources Manager/Subsidiary Human Resources concerning employee questions about human resources or payroll.
  • Coordinates with the Human Resources manager to prepare annual benefit and open enrollment meetings and wellness screenings.
  • Maintains and updates communication bulletin boards around the plant and office with job postings, required law posters, company news, etc.
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Predictable and regular in-person attendance is required.
