About The Position

Cleans and maintains offices, restrooms, shops, classrooms, conference rooms, halls, labs, locker rooms and elevators. This includes sweeping, dusting, high-dusting, mopping, burnishing floors, cleaning walls, doors, and partitions, emptying trash/recycle bins, cleaning waste receptacles and water fountains, vacuuming, shampooing, stripping, sealing and waxing, and steam cleaning or shampooing carpets. The role also involves following procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment, cleaning entrances, steps, patios, concourses, exterior and interior glass surfaces, ceiling lights, vents, and window coverings. Leadership Functions include receiving assignments from a Supervisor, potentially working alone or with a small group, and overseeing/coordinating the work of others. This role also assists in training custodial employees and inspecting performance. Minor Maintenance Functions involve performing minor repairs on furniture, fixtures, floors, plumbing, walls, doors, etc. It also includes assisting maintenance generalists and skilled trades employees with tasks such as job site preparation, ladder assistance, changing lights, and ceiling tiles. The role completes light plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work within defined HPWT lines of delineation and estimates costs for reimbursable work orders. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Four years of relevant experience
  • Class E Driver’s License is required.
  • Criminal background check required.
  • Physical examination required.
  • Ability to perform a variety of skilled trade functions
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic/mechanical drawings
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma
  • Six (6) years of appropriate experience.
  • Working knowledge of computers and asset management systems.
  • Skilled with hand/power tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Sweeps, dusts, high-dusts, mops, burnishes floors, cleans walls, doors, and partitions.
  • Empties trash/recycle bins and cleans waste receptacles and water fountains.
  • Vacuums, shampoos, strips, seals, and waxes floors.
  • Steam cleans or shampoos carpets.
  • Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Cleans all entrances (doors, disable panel, mats, door handles), steps, patios and concourses.
  • Cleans exterior and interior glass surfaces where accessible.
  • Cleans ceiling lights, vents, and window coverings.
  • Receives assignments from Supervisor that may include working alone or with a small group.
  • Oversees and coordinates the work of others while working in concert with them.
  • Assists in training custodial employees and inspection of performance.
  • Performs minor repairs on furniture, fixtures, floors, plumbing, walls, doors, etc.
  • Assists maintenance generalist(s) and skilled trades employees by performing tasks including, but not limited to, preparation of job site, providing ladder assistance, changing lights, and ceiling tiles.
  • Completes light plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work within HPWT lines of delineation.
  • Estimates costs for reimbursable work orders.
  • Performs other duties assigned.
