About The Position

Work performing housekeeping duties including cleaning restrooms, lounges, student apartments, common-use areas, carpet and tile floors.

Requirements

  • Completion of ninth (9th) grade or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
  • Some positions may require possession of a classified driver’s license appropriate to a type of vehicle operated.
  • This position requires a background check.
  • In conjunction with the University's policy, this position may also require a credit check.
  • The holder of this position is designated as a “Responsible Employee” pursuant to their role under Title IX. Therefore, the incumbent must promptly report allegations of sexual misconduct, sexual violence, and child sexual abuse by or against any student, employee, contractor, or visitor to the University’s Title IX Administrator or any divisional Title IX Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Clean & Maintain Restrooms: Clean/sanitize/disinfect fixtures, walls, floors, mirrors, & shelves; Clean/fill soap, paper towel dispensers; Empty wastebaskets; Report problems due to malfunction/damage/wear; Report on lighting failures.
  • Clean & Maintain Floor Lounges: Vacuum floors; Empty wastebaskets; Clean walls, floors & doors; Report about problems due to damage/wear; Report lighting failures; Arrange furniture; Shampoo upholstered furniture; Wipe tables & chairs.
  • Clean & Maintain Public Lounge Appliances: Clean & check microwaves; Clean & check stoves; Empty wastebaskets; Report problems due to malfunctions/damage/ wear; Report on non-functioning lights; Clean sinks, counter tops, cabinets & vent hoods.
  • Clean & Maintain Halls, Common Areas, Postal Facility, Stairwells, Courtyards, Parking Areas, Elevators, Building Entrance Areas & Ground Areas: Vacuum floors & upholstered furniture; Dust tables, windows sills, arms/legs of chairs, fire extinguisher & water hose cabinets; Damp clean vinyl-covered furniture; Shampoo upholstered chairs; Sweep stairway & steps; Sweep/mop tile floors; Clean drinking fountains; Clean stairway handrails; Clean walls & doors; Clean elevator doors, cabins & door tracks; Remove debris & sweep entrance walks & steps; Keep entrance mats clean; Empty trash containers & sand urns; Report non-functioning light bulbs; Pressure washes external concrete areas; Dispose of contaminated trash & waste materials.
  • Clean & Maintain Rooms, Apartments & Suites: Remove debris, sweep and vacuum; Spot clean walls, floors & doors; Clean, defrost & deodorize refrigerator; Clean & check stoves for proper operation; Clean sinks, countertops, cabinets & vent hoods; Clean, sanitize, & disinfect fixtures, walls, floors, mirrors & shelves; Vacuum & clean air conditioner closets; Shampoo carpets.
  • Clean Glass Windows, Doors, & Window Blinds: Use proper cleaners to remove grime/smudges/other substances from glass; Clean surfaces; Use proper equipment & take safety precautions when cleaning hard to reach surfaces; Clean glass; Clean window blinds.
  • Perform Additional Floor Cleaning & Maintenance Duties: Spray buffs resilient tile floors; Strip & rewax resilient tile floors; Shampoo carpets; Use pile brush vacuum to lift carpet pile; Clean grout on tile.
  • Performs Cleaning According to Blood Borne Pathogen Regulations: Clean up spills of human bodily fluids; Use proper personal protective equipment during cleanup; Handle & dispose of removed fluids & cleaning materials as biowaste; Attends refresher training on blood borne pathogens; Inoculated against Hepatitis B.
  • Marginal Functions: Special set-up requests; Provide manpower during Housing events; Clean up after events; Work orders; Check-outs and check-ins; Help keep residential break and storage areas neat and clean.
  • This position is designated as a Tier 2 respondent for designated campus emergencies & events. In the event of a declared campus emergency, the position incumbent will make every effort to return to campus when directed.
