About The Position

The HPC Systems Engineer owns the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and optimization of production and development engineering HPC clusters supporting CAE, CFD, and FEA simulation suites across multiple engineering groups. The role supports a RHEL-based NVIDIA Base Command Manager environment and helps ensure reliable, high-performing compute services for a next-generation Formula 1 power unit program. The engineer administers cluster infrastructure, scheduling, storage, licensing, and simulation software; provides direct support and training to engineering users; investigates performance and reliability issues; automates operational tasks; and manages vendor support cases through resolution. The role also consults on and supports the build-out and commissioning of additional cluster capacity. This is an onsite position in Concord, North Carolina.

  • Methodical troubleshooting approach: form hypotheses, test them, and work problems through to resolution.
  • Comfort working with unfamiliar problems and vendor documentation.
  • Clear communication with engineering end users.
  • Discipline in applying change control to production systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain the RHEL-based NVIDIA Base Command Manager HPC environment.

  • Provide direct user support, including job-script troubleshooting, diagnosis of failed or underperforming jobs, user onboarding, documentation, and training.
  • Investigate performance and reliability problems to identify root causes using systematic diagnosis; benchmark and validate node and fabric performance.
  • Write and maintain shell scripts for automation, health checks, reporting, and user-facing tools.
  • Own hardware, software, and licensing vendor trouble tickets through resolution.
