About The Position

Umicore is a global advanced materials and recycling group that develops, produces, and recycles materials for a better life. The Electro Optic Materials division is a world leader in material solutions for the space, optics, and electronics sectors. The Quapaw site is seeking an Operator in the High Purity Chemicals & Refining operation to produce materials with higher performance and provide recycling to new markets.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
Proficient with computers
Able to read and interpret documents such as work instructions and procedure manuals
Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Able to use a respirator to be a member of the HAZWOPER team

Responsibilities

Set up and operate recycling processes and production of Germanium Tetrachloride and refining furnaces
Operate processes via HMI computer
Ensure quality of product as defined by customer specifications
Pull sampling of waste streams to ensure operations meet governmental requirements
Supporting role setting up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for tests, research or process control
Support conducting chemical laboratory tests of various chemical solutions and samples
Executes assigned tasks in General Production following standard operating procedures and safety/quality requirements.
Maintains accuracy and completeness of records, documentation, and transactions in line with controls.
Recognizes issues or inconsistencies and supports the continuous improvement of work procedures and instructions.
Supports colleagues and responds to stakeholder requests in a timely, professional manner.
Maintains accurate documentation and records in line with policies and procedures.
Escalates issues, risks, and deviations promptly to supervisor and follows through on corrective actions.
