About The Position

Tri-CAP is seeking a passionate, energetic, and committed individual to join our team primarily at our housing support office in Big Lake, MN. This role focuses on working with clients in our housing and asset development programs. The specialist will provide comprehensive case management, support services, housing search assistance, budgeting guidance, family support, and landlord-tenant education. The position involves building trusting relationships and delivering holistic, strength-based services, including assessments, identifying strengths and barriers, goal setting, and follow-up. Additionally, the role provides referrals, advocacy, financial coaching, and training to clients in various Family Resources programs. Education and resources will be offered to help clients achieve their goals in areas such as financial literacy, pre-employment skills, life skills, landlord-tenant rights, and asset development, delivered both individually and in group settings. Building strong relationships with community partners, including human service agencies, landlords, and advisory boards, is crucial for outreach, resource enhancement, and advocacy for individuals experiencing poverty. The specialist will also recruit potential clients through community outreach and relationship building, assist with program reporting through data entry, and contribute to grant writing activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in social work or related field and one year of career / life experience OR combination of five (5) years' career/ life experience and education.
  • Skills in case management including financial coaching- budgeting and credit repair.
  • Ability to work well in a team setting as well as individually, with very little supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including networking and public speaking/presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and problem-solve effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and agency software programs.
  • Able to identify and relate to the barriers that prevent low-income persons from becoming self-sufficient.
  • Must be able to pass DHS Background Study.
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout the service area.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in coordinated entry, housing programs, employment plans, financial literacy, preferred.
  • Somali or Spanish Language bi-lingual preferred.

Responsibilities
