About The Position

Help individuals and families find stability through housing. At Appleseed, we believe safe, stable housing is the foundation for recovery and success. As a Housing Specialist, you'll work directly with individuals and families experiencing housing instability, helping them navigate resources, overcome barriers, and achieve long-term housing stability. We're looking for a compassionate, organized, and motivated individual who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Requirements

  • Experience working in housing services, case management, social services, or community-based programs
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to build positive relationships with clients, landlords, and community partners
  • Strong commitment to client advocacy and ethical practice
  • Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and active auto insurance
  • Ability to travel locally throughout the community
  • Successful completion of background check, driving record check, and drug screening

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of community resources and housing systems preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, housing instability, mental health, or substance use concerns
  • Associate degree with relevant experience
  • High School Diploma/GED with significant related experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide housing-focused case management services to individuals and families
  • Assist clients in locating and maintaining safe, affordable housing
  • Conduct housing assessments and develop individualized housing goals
  • Coordinate with landlords, housing authorities, courts, and community agencies
  • Connect clients to community resources and support services
  • Advocate on behalf of clients to reduce barriers to housing stability
  • Provide crisis intervention and support as needed
  • Participate in community housing initiatives and collaborative projects
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in HMIS and other required systems
  • Monitor client progress and provide ongoing support
  • Attend team meetings and collaborate with agency staff to ensure quality services
