About The Position

Merakey is seeking a Housing Specialist to join their team in Shreveport, LA. This role involves coordinating housing services for individuals served by the F/ACT team, assisting them in finding safe and affordable housing, developing relationships with landlords, ensuring adequate financial support, teaching money management skills, and supporting household activities. The specialist will also educate and support individual's families, advocate for individual's rights and preferences, attend community housing meetings, and act as a liaison with stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or Sociology.
• Knowledge and understanding of recovery principles and recovery driven service system.
• Valid LA Driver's License and appropriate state and federal clearances.
• Minimum 1 year experience as Housing Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Housing services for all individuals served by the F/ACT team.
• Assist individuals in the procurement of safe and affordable housing and related necessities.
• Develop a relationship with landlords.
• Ensure individuals have adequate financial support.
• Teach and promote money management skills.
• Support individuals in the performance of household activities (cleaning, organizing, etc.).
• Educate and support individual's families.
• Advocate for individual's rights and preferences.
• Attend housing related meetings in the community.
• Act as a liaison with stakeholders.
