About The Position

Bethany for Children & Families is looking for a Housing Specialist to provide case management and supportive social services to children, youth, and families. This role involves building strong relationships with clients, helping them identify and achieve goals outlined in their treatment plans, and being available during times of crisis. The Housing Specialist will meet with clients in various settings, including their homes, which may occur outside of traditional business hours. The hourly rate for this position is $24.23 per hour.

Requirements

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, psychology, or a related field, preferred.
  • Experience working with youth and/or individuals experiencing housing insecurity, preferred.
  • Successfully complete Illinois State Police and Federal Office of the Inspector General background checks.
  • Provide reliable transportation for job responsibilities, including maintaining a valid driver’s license, acceptable insurance coverage, and the ability to travel throughout an eight-county service area to meet with clients.
  • Meet eligibility requirements for a case management position as defined by the funding contract supporting the role.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule in response to program needs and caseload assignments.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and responsiveness, with the ability to work effectively with diverse families through a trauma-informed, nonjudgmental, and compassionate approach.
  • Support participants in achieving their goals.
  • Exhibit empathy, professionalism, and a genuine passion for helping individuals grow beyond past trauma.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Manage conflict and engage in difficult conversations in a direct, respectful, and professional manner with clients and team members.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, philosophy, and goals, and work collaboratively as part of a treatment team.
  • Be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Be able to transport car seats to and from the office and clients’ homes.
  • Be able to physically attend to young children and infants as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management and supportive social services to children, youth, and families.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with clients.
  • Help clients identify, address, and achieve needs and goals outlined in their individualized treatment plans.
  • Be responsive and dependable, including being available during times of crisis.
  • Meet with youth or families in various settings, including the client’s home, which may occur outside of traditional business hours.
  • Assess the appropriateness of service requests and explain the organization’s services to clients.
  • Complete preliminary client assessments and collaborate with the Manager of Community Services to develop effective case or treatment plans.
  • Manage a workload of up to fifteen (15) individuals and their children.
  • Organize time in a structured and efficient manner.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records, submit required reports, and provide statistical data.
  • Meet regularly with the Manager of Community Services to review clinical matters and service delivery concerns.
  • Develop and apply knowledge of organizational and community resources to support client goals.
  • Remain accessible to clients for meetings at times that accommodate their schedules or contractual requirements, including daytime or evening availability.
  • Participate in ongoing training and use feedback constructively.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, referral sources, and community providers.
  • Attend staff meetings, program meetings, and required training sessions.
  • Actively contribute to strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
