About The Position

The City of Chandler Public Housing Authority is administered by the City’s Housing and Redevelopment Division. Our primary focus is to provide safe and affordable housing to participating individuals and families with a high level of customer service. The Division also partners with other supportive services in the community that empower our participants to thrive. The Division is responsible for the management of site-based and scattered site public housing units, the Housing Choice Voucher program, as well as Veterans Affairs Supporting Housing (VASH) Vouchers and Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA). The city is currently undertaking the conversion of two public housing sites under the Rental Assistance Demonstration Program (RAD). The Housing & Redevelopment Senior Manager will serve as the operations manager of the housing division and will report to a Deputy City Manager. This position is required to be in office, working a 5-day, 8-hour schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Business Administration, Social Work or related field
  • 8 years of progressively responsible experience in public housing administration, to include management and policy development experience
  • 3 years of supervisory experience
  • A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Public Housing Manager (PHM) or Housing Choice Voucher Executive Manager (HCVEM) through a HUD-recognized program
  • Experience with mixed-finance development, RAD conversions, or other innovative housing strategies
  • Experience working within a municipal government structure and familiarity with local government budgeting, procurement, and administrative processes
  • Familiarity with local housing market conditions and social service organizations

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the operations manager of the housing division.
