The Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA) is seeking a motivated and mission-driven candidate to join our team. We are proud to provide affordable housing and essential services to individuals and families in need of stable housing. We are currently hiring for a position that will support our Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) and other rental assistance programs through inspections, compliance monitoring, and customer service. HACA has been a leader in affordable housing in the City of Austin for more than 85 years. In partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, local government entities, and numerous non-profit agencies, HACA provides access to safe, stable housing to over 20,000 individuals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; OR Two years related experience and/or training; OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong computer skills (Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of building maintenance and construction methods

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections to ensure compliance with HUD's Housing Quality Standards (HQS) for HCV and other rental assistance programs
  • Schedule all HQS inspections using the Elite Inspection Module
  • Complete inspections using the Elite HQS Mobile App
  • Conduct annual recertification, initial, and complaint inspections, and report findings to relevant parties
  • Advise property owners and managers on deficiencies and compliance deadlines
  • Monitor repair deadlines and conduct follow-up inspections to ensure completion
  • Conduct rent reasonableness analyses for new leases and annual rent changes
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from property managers, partners, and clients by phone or email
  • Provide clear guidance on program policies and procedures
  • Maintain positive working relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Perform accurate and timely data entry
  • Maintain organized records using the digital file storage system
  • Inform Assisted Housing staff of inspection statuses and non-compliance issues that may require abatement or contract termination
  • Provide support to the Assisted Housing department as needed and complete other duties as assigned
