About The Position

The Housing Operations & Communications Manager is a dynamic leadership opportunity to shape an inclusive, student-centered residential experience that advances UW–Green Bay’s mission to provide high-quality, accessible education and foster meaningful community connections. Reporting to the Executive Director of Housing & Residential Education, this role leads both operational excellence and strategic outreach—supporting over 2,200 students during the academic year and 2,000 summer guests—while serving as a visible, collaborative partner across campus. The position champions initiatives that strengthen student success, build community, and expand access, aligning with institutional priorities and embodying UW–Green Bay’s commitment to advance fearlessly, empower success, and build community. Through engagement with prospective students and families, campus partners, and divisional initiatives, this role plays a key part in telling the housing story and elevating the student experience. This position oversees critical housing operations, including contracts, occupancy management, billing, and a 24/7 service desk, while providing leadership and supervision to full-time and student staff. The manager ensures effective response to operational challenges and nonroutine situations, maintains best practices in housing assignments, safety and security, ADA compliance, and strategic communications, and supports facility-related efforts that impact student living environments. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience living in on-campus college/university housing program
  • 3-5 years of experience supervising staff
  • Knowledge of housing occupancy management and operations within student housing

Responsibilities

  • Directs and implements the strategic unit initiatives or student programs, specific to the recruitment and retention of students to campus housing.
  • Responsible for ensuring all housing rooms and facility spaces are prepared for student use.
  • Creates and oversees all communication to students regarding housing operations information, housing processes, facilities that impact student buildings, or concerns.
  • Creates, manages, and presents information about campus housing at University events.
  • Ensures buildings are maintained by touring the common areas/public spaces, tracking and identifying needed repairs, and communicating with building managers and department administrators.
  • Works with the Executive Director and facilities staff to oversee and manage student ADA requests.
  • Responsible for ensuring and documenting ADA compliance within assigned rooms, and meeting with students.
  • Supervises and oversees the day-to-day activities of unit staff and resolves routine and non-routine personnel issues.
  • Supervises the day-to-day activities of student staff, manages scheduling and assists with the staff development plan including hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of student staff at the 24/7 front desk and mailroom.
  • Creates and implements strategic plan for staff support and coverage of front desk, mailroom, university events, orientations and manages budgets for these roles.
  • Has supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees. Specifically, the Occupancy & Contract Coordinator and Administrative Assistant.
  • Oversees and manages tasks of these employees.
  • Triages and responds to emergency situations according to established policies and procedures in partnership with emergency personnel and law enforcement if necessary.
  • Serves as liaison for Housing and Residential Education with University Police, Emergency Management, and University Health and Safety regarding reporting, follow up.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates resident housing operating policies, procedures, and programs to promote an inclusive and safe community.
  • Oversees door management systems and access control for all students and staff in housing, including staff training and day-to-day management of physical keys and cards.
  • Assists staff in responding to situations related to door access or other housing facilities access concerns and creates strategic plan and communication to students and university facilities staff.
  • Manages housing IT inventory, represents housing in IT project development, and assesses IT systems/software/equipment annually.
  • Creates strategic plan for IT system improvements and provides recommendations related to IT system usage by students and staff.
  • Oversees and coordinates room cleaning/room turnover process.
  • Ensures correct information for facilities and custodial staff needs is provided daily.
