About The Position

The ACHE Housing Maintenance Technician will work with the Housing and Asset Manager to provide support for all campus housing units/buildings to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all students and their families that live in on-campus housing. This position serves a critical and important role within the overall housing infrastructure.

  • May be required to transport oneself to other campus offices, conference rooms, and on occasion, to off-campus sites to attend meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars, etc.
  • May require significant travel or work away from campus.
  • Requires attendance at events representing ACHE both within as well as outside of the college setting.
  • Frequently required to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
  • Frequently required to see for purposes of reading matter.
  • Frequently required to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
  • Occasionally required to lift items in a normal office environment.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Frequently required to operate office and presentation equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of experience in building maintenance.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills involving electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
  • Leadership and management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive, productive relationship with all students/tenants.
  • Perform routine preventative and predictive maintenance on building equipment to ensure electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems are in constant working order.
  • Repair of light fixtures and replacement of faulty bulbs.
  • Operation and minor repair of Fire Alarm system.
  • Perform building rounds to check and log status of equipment.
  • Observe all company procedures and safety rules.
  • Repair leaks in drains and faucets.
  • Minor repair and painting of walls as required.
  • Door hardware maintenance and repair.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance equipment and supplies.
  • Serve as an escort to third-party vendors when necessary for all housing units.
  • Serve as the main third-party vendor contact for all housing units. Coordinate, plan and execute tasks/projects with third-party vendors.
  • Ensure that tickets are closed out with detailed summaries for all work orders.
  • Walk and assess units for make-ready status, cleanliness infractions, and safety inspections.
  • Available to work overtime and emergency needs after hours as needed.
  • Participate in company provided training opportunities.
  • Assist the Housing and Asset Manager with property management duties.
  • Provide general cleaning for all external buildings, including, but not limited to, commercial space, common area spaces, hallways, study rooms, student apartments, restrooms, recreation areas, etc.
  • During busy seasons weekend work may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Housing and Asset Manager or their designee.
