Housing Inspector
About The Position
The Housing Inspector performs required Housing and Urban Development (HUD) inspections on residences used for Veteran's Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH), Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), and Office of Community Development (OCD) programs. The role reports to the Director of HQS Compliance and has no supervisory responsibilities. The work is mostly indoors, with travel to residents’ dwellings and frequent interactions with residents and landlords. Travel is required, and the employee must possess a valid driver’s license. The position requires mobility and flexibility to walk, bend, kneel, lift, and reach while performing duties.
Requirements
- Two years of experience in construction inspection, building construction, or remodeling.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel, lift, and reach to perform job duties.
Responsibilities
- Inspect multi-family and single-family residences under HUD guidelines to determine their feasibility for occupancy.
- Inspect the physical conditions and structures of individual properties and units.
- Complete required inspection paperwork for supervisor review and approval.
- Investigate assigned non-compliance complaints.
- Communicate with and assist landlords and owners as needed.
