About The Position

Horizons is looking for a Housing & Financial Wellness Counselor to help individuals and families build financial stability, prepare for homeownership, improve their credit, and navigate housing challenges. If you enjoy helping people solve problems and reach meaningful goals, this could be a great fit. No previous housing counseling experience required-we'll provide the training and support to help the right candidate become a HUD-certified Housing Counselor.

Requirements

  • Enjoy working one-on-one with people, are comfortable talking about money, and can explain financial concepts clearly.
  • Organized, compassionate, and dependable.
  • Experience in banking, lending, mortgage servicing, financial education, credit counseling, housing, or human services is especially valuable.
  • An associate or bachelor's degree in a related field-or equivalent experience-is preferred.
  • Earn HUD certification within four months of hire, with our support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one counseling on homebuying, housing stability, foreclosure prevention, budgeting, and credit.
  • Help clients improve credit, reduce debt, and prepare for successful homeownership.
  • Develop individualized budgets and action plans, and connect clients to community resources.
  • Maintain client records per Horizons and HUD requirements.
  • Help facilitate homebuyer education and financial workshops, and take part in community outreach.
