About The Position

Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a Clinician to provide recovery-oriented, trauma-informed mental health services to individuals involved in housing programs. This role supports consumers in achieving stability, wellness, and independence through individualized, consumer-driven services delivered in both office and community-based settings. The Clinician plays a critical role in assessments, treatment planning, service delivery, and coordination with community and internal partners, particularly those supporting housing stability and substance use recovery. We provide fully integrated care by combining behavioral health care services with community-based primary care centers and are nationally recognized for research, training, and innovation. We have two full-time positions available at our Madison, IL housing site. One position will work Tuesday through Saturday from 3:00pm to 11:30pm and one will work Sunday through Thursday from 3:00pm to 11:30pm.

Requirements

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ supervised mental health experience; OR a master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related field with less than 1,000 hours of supervised mental health experience
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, private automobile insurance and be insurable
  • Requires basic computer skills and experience to include MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and an electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Effective communication with employees, consumers, potential consumers, and support systems.
  • Ability to respond effectively and calmly in conflict or emotional situations.
  • Good keyboarding skills.
  • Data entry experience – preferably with an electronic health record or electronic billing system.
  • Knowledge of standard office procedures and use of office equipment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, private automobile insurance, and be insurance

Responsibilities

  • Stay on top of essential paperwork, like assessments and recovery plans, to ensure clients receive the best care possible.
  • Ensure all treatment plans and assessments are ready before they are due to prevent gaps in service.
  • Complete approximately 80% of progress notes within two days of meeting with a client.
  • Provide support tailored to each client’s individual recovery and safety goals.
  • Manage a consistent schedule to meet productivity goals while ensuring every client receives adequate attention.
  • Handle behind-the-scenes details, such as obtaining service approvals and checking on housing referrals, to help clients access necessary resources.
  • Utilize a trauma-informed approach, leading with hope, respect, and empowerment to foster client connection and support.
  • Use positive, recovery-focused language in written notes and daily client interactions.
  • Act as a liaison, connecting clients to vital resources like housing and substance use treatment.
  • Collaborate closely with teammates and the client’s support network to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Attend regular meetings to brainstorm ideas, support teammates, and take on leadership opportunities.
  • Employ proven, evidence-based methods in therapy sessions with individuals, families, or groups.
  • Provide services in the community or in environments where the client feels most comfortable whenever possible.
  • Complete regular trainings, earn CEUs, and participate in clinical supervision to maintain and enhance skills.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality, ensuring client information is always protected.
