About The Position

The Housing and Redevelopment Support Specialist is a full-time Rural Partners Corps AmeriCorps fellow serving with the Tuscola County Economic Development Corporation (EDC). The role supports the EDC’s efforts to preserve housing and advance redevelopment opportunities, including assistance with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) housing projects under existing third-party administration contracts and with Brownfield Redevelopment Authority and tax increment financing activities. Service is intended to strengthen access to housing resources, project information, and partnerships that support community investment and economic mobility. The fellow performs activities under staff guidance and in alignment with the approved AmeriCorps State and National grant and its performance measures. The position supplements, rather than displaces, paid employees or existing volunteers and must comply with AmeriCorps requirements, including restrictions on prohibited activities. The service term runs from December 7, 2026, through August 13, 2027. Fellows serve approximately 40 hours per week and complete 1,200 service hours. Training and development include a virtual national orientation, an in-person Winter Institute with travel, lodging, and per diem covered, twice-monthly virtual skills training, self-paced curricula, a community listening tour, individual support from a Lead For America Program Coordinator, peer pod meetings, and access to a national network of fellows, alumni, and community partners.
