Under the general supervision of the E.S. Manager or E.S. personnel placed in charge, the Houseperson is responsible for cleaning patient rooms/ancillary areas within the hospital and departmental policies and procedures. This includes discharge cleaning, chemical usage, terminal cleaning, floor care and refinishing, dry and wet mopping, vacuuming, carpet extraction, dusting, and baseboard cleaning. The role also involves maintaining cleaning equipment, stocking assigned areas with clean linen, removing snow and salting walks, replacing light bulbs, collecting trash, picking up and delivering supplies and food service items, moving equipment and furniture, operating power tools, washing walls and ceilings, changing curtains and draperies, shampooing furniture and carpets, stripping/refinishing/burnishing floors, interior vent and light fixture cleaning, replacing cords, and safely completing work tasks. The Houseperson must adhere to established standards of courtesy and wear facility-provided identification. The role also requires consistently providing service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers in a manner that reflects Falmouth Hospital’s commitment to CARES: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and service.
