About The Position

Are you seeking a meaningful way to serve youth in need? Goshen New Beginnings, our independent living program for eighteen to twenty-one-year-old young adults, is looking for a/an Houseparent(s). This could be a working, married couple, or single houseparent for this particular role. Goshen Valley offers a unique opportunity to live and work in a supportive, faith-driven community. As a Houseparent, you’ll create a nurturing home environment, mentor youth through their healing journey, and help them build a foundation for a hopeful future. As the Houseparent(s), you could be filling in as Respite or Primary Houseparent(s) as needed. As a Houseparent, you will be responsible for providing oversight of the home and the residents, managing the home, carrying out the structure in the home, cooking, cleaning, administering medication, transporting, supervising, and addressing behavioral issues as they arise. When not needed in this capacity, you will provide program support as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or a High School Diploma and a minimum of three years’ experience working with youth required.
  • Must have a demonstrated understanding and ability to work with youth from hard places. Including youth on AWO/MWO level.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to provide moral, ethical, and spiritual leadership that coincides with the program and policies of GVF.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be of good character and supportive of the programs, policies, and ideals of GVF.
  • Must be able to pass a drug and background check(s), possess a valid driver’s license, and be insurable by GVF insurance carrier.

Nice To Haves

  • Current or previous experience with TCI, CPI or Safety Care certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Move into the home and provide oversight of the home and the residents as needed. This includes managing the home, carrying out the structure in the home, cooking, cleaning, administering medication, transporting, supervising and addressing behavioral issues as they arise.
  • Assisting with tasks in the home in the evening when the homes are busiest.
  • Teaching life skills curriculum in the homes for males 17.5-21 years old.
  • When not working in the home, On-call emergency assistance or filling in, including overnight supervision and date nights for houseparents, as needed, and/or supporting Life Coach team as needed.
  • Medication Administration
  • Transporting youth to appointments, work and school.
  • Recreational activities as needed.
