About The Position

The Houseman provides janitorial and maintenance support and is responsible for cleaning lobbies and bathrooms along with stocking storage areas and guest rooms with necessary items. Guests and your team will rely on you to ensure that all guest rooms and public areas are clean, sanitized and well cared for. The Houseman should be able to handle a large workload in an efficient and fast-paced manner. They must possess physical stamina and have excellent time management skills. The Houseman professionally represents the hotel through the creation of a value based workplace environment where team mates and guests are treated in a fair, respectful and honorable manner.

Requirements

Ability to stand for long periods and bend up and down to clean floors.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds unaided.

Responsibilities

Always interact in a friendly manner with guests to create a memorable guest experience.
Maintain a calm and welcoming demeanor while multitasking to handle guest interactions at the same time as daily tasks.
Daily duties include vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, polishing and disinfecting in common areas such as lobby, stairways, gym, public washrooms, and meeting rooms.
Assisting the Housekeeping department with the stripping of rooms as well as bringing laundry to and from guest floors.
Clean exterior building, including sidewalk.
Minor repairs in public areas including and not limited to changing light bulbs, plunging toilets, tightening fixtures and other duties under supervision of the Maintenance or Housekeeping Manager.
Clean kitchen, sweep floors making sure to remove any garbage that may have slipped under machines and/or counters and shelving racks. Degrease floors and mop clean.
Clean guest elevators and staff elevator. Spot clean walls and baseboards as required.
Shampoo lobby and meeting rooms’ carpets when required.
Manage properly the disposal of garbage from waste bins daily throughout the facility.
Refill the par stock of guest amenities and supplies on each housekeeping storage area.
Stock linen closets on guest floors in a neat and organized manner.
Inspect cleanliness and working condition of all equipment and supplies.
Inform supervisor concerning need for major or minor repairs or additions to lighting, heating and ventilating equipment.
Follow all company and brand procedures for the proper cleaning and sanitizing of guest rooms, public areas and work areas.
Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated items/surfaces, according to Health Administration regulations and hotel requirements.
Stay safe all the time. Following our safety procedures, you will report all incidents and put safety first for yourself, your team mates and our guests.
Take pride in your appearance and position as a hotel ambassador. Follow all department uniform and grooming requirements.
Always know what events and activities are on the day’s schedule in the hotel and neighbourhood.
Jump into other ad-hoc duties when your colleagues need your assistance.
Communicate effectively and efficiently with all departments in the hotel to work together to deliver the most memorable experience to the guest.
Adhere to all brand and company standards, policies and procedures.
Support other duties as assigned by your direct report.
